flattening a face in a drawing

flattening a face in a drawing

flattening a face in a drawing

(OP)
I designing a boat that is to be made out of pieces of plywood.  The faces of the object are disticinct sheets of wood.  So there are no "humps" in the faces, only curving flat plates.  I would like to take a face and unbend it so that it will sit on a flat plane.  This I will then print and transfer to the plywood.  A projection of the face on a plane will not work, because it will not be true size and shape.  I would like to do something similar to flattening a sheetmetal part, but achieving the shape I have in sheet metal is a bit daunting to say the least.

They are not bowl shaped, only twisted or bent.  For example, one end of the plane is verticle while the other end of the plane is maybe 15deg from verticle.  There is no protruding of the planes only bending.

RE: flattening a face in a drawing

Do you have the parts modelled? If so it should be easy to convert them to Sheet Metal parts.

cheers
