PART ENVELOPE

PART ENVELOPE

Is there any way to create a part envelope around a model to get the stock size I will need to create the part?

RE: PART ENVELOPE

How do I get the scrip file to work?

RE: PART ENVELOPE

To run a script use alt+f8, then add directory. point to were you put your file. Then hit run.

RE: PART ENVELOPE

Sorry, I was a little unclear, DBezaire directed me to a site that has a scrip file but on my end it’s not downloading properly so my last question was directed towards that.

RE: PART ENVELOPE

did you try the ROUGH STOCK icon that Derek mentioned? (I think it's also part of the GSD workbench)

RE: PART ENVELOPE

(OP)
what tool bar is rough stock on in GSD?

RE: PART ENVELOPE

here's another way to do it directly in CATIA:

Use MEASURE INERTIA and customize it to include PRINCIPAL AXES. Measure the Inertia of the Part Body, and KEEP the measurements. You'll see the part envelope displayed around the part.

Look in the tree at the bottom of the Analysis branch - you'll find three BBL values. These are the x,y,z lengths of the Boundary Box, based on the inertia axis.

RE: PART ENVELOPE

EngMfg1 -
Right click over the script on the above websight.
Save as.
change it from HTM to all files.
call it BoundingBox.CATScript
Do you have a spot you keep macros?
Then like Kapmc Alt+F8 or Tools-->Marco-->Macros

Regards,
Derek
