PDMWOrks question

PDMWOrks question

PDMWOrks question

(OP)
in A Few weeks we will be implementing Pdmworks in our company. I have a question about the software.  Say for instance i have a model (part-abc) which is reference by a drawing (drawing-123) both the drawing and the model have gone thru a series of revision. If i were to change the rename the model to (part-def) would the old revisions of (drawing-123) be updated to reference the renamed part file.

RE: PDMWOrks question

I think only if you rename it within PDMW.

RE: PDMWOrks question

I believe so, if you check in the drawing and model together. Do not be afraid to try it. Your administrator can delete any file that you feel is not needed.

RE: PDMWOrks question

You have to do it through PDMWorks.  If you make the change locally and then check in, PDMWorks will have the older revisions reference the files under the previous name.

RE: PDMWOrks question

Dtown266,

That is, among other things, what PDMWorks is for.  Renaming a file in PDMW renames all revisions and versions of that file, not just the most recent one.  Part of the renaming process is that all that file's references (such as drawings) are updated to reference the new filename.

thanks for all the Replies

I glad to here that pdmworks renames all the file revisions also. that Saves me alot of headache in writing the SOP here.

thanks again
