soft injectable plastic needed high flow
soft injectable plastic needed high flow
(OP)
Hi I am looking for a plastic that I can use to injection mold a one piece toothpaste tube that is clear, soft and flexable, and because of the thin walls has a high flow rate. We are using a manifold to augment the flow dynamics . this plastic must be FDA approaved for use in the oral care industry. any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Howard

I always though toothpaste tubes were made from co-extruded tubing to get the barrier properties required for the detergents/flavourings etc in toothpaste, with the threaded bit fixed later.
Some distant memory also recalls that there may be patents on the subject - worth a check.

Nylons and polyesters tend to have good barrier an flavour scalping properties, but are not really soft. Some are quite transparent and might be flexible enough if thin enough.
Injection blow moulding might br a better option.
