Cone & Taper

Cone & Taper

Cone & Taper

(OP)
Is there anykind feature how i make conical sheet? I have one my own projects and i like to make cap on the smoke pipe in my forest cabin, i cant find any working feature to flat sheet when i draw cone and i have cutted line to flat it.

RE: Cone & Taper

I have an example of what you want but I do not know how to attache to this post? looking around  If you can tell me how to do that or give an email address I will forward.

RE: Cone & Taper

If you are using the sheet metal template, there should be a command for 'flat pattern.' That is the only way to 'unroll' a cylindrical shape.

Unfortunately, I don't know if there is a way to create a cone in sheet metal and get a flat pattern. I know it'll do any other shape. I've created some pretty trick brackets and they were flat patterned perfectly. So I know the feature works, but I just don't know if it works for cones.

Maybe someone on here can elighten both of us.

Gazci,

Place the files in a .zip folder and post them here;

http://www.tinypic.com/

You can then post the link in a post.

RE: Cone & Taper

Inventor unfolding can do with significant improvement.  If its just the flat pattern of a simple cone you want then it's so basic I'd say it was easier just to draw it.
