Cannot select objects after complex object is created

Cannot select objects after complex object is created

Cannot select objects after complex object is created

(OP)
I am having problems that when a complex object is created in 2000 or 2000i the user is no longer able to select it.  It has something to do with the Windows display driver that AutoCAD is using.  I can select other objects on screen until a regeneration is called.

This only happens at times, but is always after the construction of complex objects through user interface or thorugh ARX.

I guess my searchs on cannot select objects on screen is not good enough.

RE: Cannot select objects after complex object is created

What video cards and drivers are you using? What type of objects are you creating?

RE: Cannot select objects after complex object is created

A large combination of cards, but the majority are ATI 8 Meg rage mobility and 4 Meg S3 ViREGE in Compaq laptops.  The drivers are the OEM provided ones.  I have not heard of any users with this problem in desktop machines, but our desktop user base is under 5 percent.

The actual drivers for mine being used are below, but as it is a laptop I have not experimented with replacing them.
S3VMX.DRV
VMM32.VXD

Mostly the objects are polyline entities.  I have had it occur with a dimension only once and one person swears it happened with a block object but I have not been able to duplicate it.  The frequency makes it hard to track down.  I have only had it happen once in the last month.  Other users have it happen several times a week.
