Material Assessment for PED

Material Assessment for PED

Material Assessment for PED

(OP)
Hi there.

Can anybody provide any useful links to develop particular material appraisals for the Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC).

Previously all design codes had approved materials listed or identified material lists in other design codes that were accepted as safe for the construction and design of pressure vessels.

The PED now identifies materials that meet European harmonized standards or that are European Approved Materials can be assumed as compliant with the essential safety requirements of the drective.

The problem is that they have not developed any harmonized standards in relation to the directive and have contested ALL applications for EAMs (this includes standards that specifically relate to materials for pressure parts).

If anybody can help I would be grateful.

Regards,

Fawkes
