Adding Symbols to Dimensions

Adding Symbols to Dimensions

Adding Symbols to Dimensions

(OP)
How do you add a symbol as a prefix to the dimension value.

I want to add the rev number to those dimensions which are updated on the revision. For example I would add a '1' in a small circle as a prefix to the dimension value so that it can move with the dimension.

I tried adding &sym(REV_NOTE) as a prefix in the dimension properties but it appears as typed in the dimension.
REV_NOTE is a symbol, circle with '1' within.

Any help appreciated.

RE: Adding Symbols to Dimensions

Try &sym(&REV_NOTE)

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."

Anyone have any other suggestions on this?

RE: Adding Symbols to Dimensions

You can add the symbol (as text) to a dimension and keep it linked with the dimension. In ProE2001 the magic is "offset".

Did you try?

RE: Adding Symbols to Dimensions

What I do is add the symbol or balloon as offset to the dimension. Instead of "free" or "with leader" select "offset". Then select the dimension with the left mouse buttion and middle click where you want the symbol.

Guys,
I used the OFFSET command in the Note command.
It worked a treat!
Thanks Very Much.

What a great Website this is!

RE: Adding Symbols to Dimensions

If you are adding only a symbol it is easier to just use the Insert/Drawing Symbol/Custom dialog box and change the placement type to offset rather than creating a note.  If however, you need some additional text along with your symbol then an offset note is the way to go.

RE: Adding Symbols to Dimensions

Annother option which is probably similar to what Hora and Peter described is to use the relate to object option under the Group menu. You can place your symbol and then when it is selected select
Edit -> Group -> Relate to Object and select the dimension you want your symbol to follow as the Host Object.
