Plastic type alternative?
Plastic type alternative?
(OP)
Hi,
I need an alternative to plyboard (thickness of 8 mm) that has the same strength characteristics, which can withstand prolonged mild heat, has the ability to be machined to tolerances of +/- 1 mm, possibly coloured, possibly a recycled material and able to continually support a weight of approximately 18 kg between to sheets of dimensions; height 260 mm by width 270, thickness unimportant.
Thanks for your time

RE: Plastic type alternative?
Can it tolerate any permanent deflection and increasing deflection over time.
I would think most plastics could do it if made thick enough or ribbed deep enough.
A lot depends on how it is supported.
A lot depends on numbers.
Maybe glass filled nylon or glass filled polyester or if numbers small, FRP.
