Chamfer Dimensions in Drawing

Chamfer Dimensions in Drawing

Chamfer Dimensions in Drawing

(OP)
I seem to be unable to get a chamfer dimension to show up in the drawing for a part that I have created.  I have tried to use the model items command in every view that I have placed on the sheet but the chamfer dimensions never show.  (I have placed top, right, front and a section) I have also tried both the smart dimension and the auto dimension.  I am not the best at creating drawings so I may be overlooking some simple step.  I think that it may be time for me to attend a Solidworks drawing class.

Thanks for any help

Brian

RE: Chamfer Dimensions in Drawing

When using the chamfer dimension tool, you need to select the chamfer first and then an adjacent edge.

The inserted model items will only place a separate angle and distance dimensions.

cheers

Thanks for the help but my proplem is that the separate angle and distance will not appear on the drawing.  It is correct in the model.  If I could get what is in the model to show up on the drawing I would be just fine.

RE: Chamfer Dimensions in Drawing

Are the model dimensions set to Marked for drawing?

cheers

Yes they are.

RE: Chamfer Dimensions in Drawing

Go to Tools > Options > Document Properties > Detailing/Annotations Display and check that Display items only in the view in which they are created is NOT selected.

cheers

That is a negative also.  I am really confused why this not working.

RE: Chamfer Dimensions in Drawing

I assume you've already tried choosing a "Chamfer Dimension" from the Tools menu...

This could be a bug or a corrupt install; I've had similar things happen in both cases.  What release/SP of SWx are you running?

SW 2006 SP0.0 I will try and get IT to reinstall/upgrade (my computer is admin protected)  that will be a difficult task.  My IT department is not very helpful to say the least.  Thanks for the help
