Ventillation Rate Procedure
Ventillation Rate Procedure
(OP)
Hi,
I am looking at a project in which the client is asking that "the mechanical ventillation system shall perform according to the Ventillation Rate Procedure".
What exaclty does this mean?
This is a building with 2 Racquetball courts and a few aerobics rooms and 4 offices. How does ASHRAE 62.1-2004 and ASHRAE 55-2004 relate to this ventillation procedure. Does it cause a conflict?
Thanks

RE: Ventillation Rate Procedure
Read the ASHRAE 62-2004 document. In table 6-1 ventilation rates are prescribed for the occupants and space use, they are to be used in conjunction with the accompanying notes for table 6-1.

Something else to keep in mind is that ASHRAE guidelines are just that guidelines. Some states and municipalities have adopted them as codes but possibly in edited forms. For example here in North Carolina the current mechanical code is based on the 2003 International Mechanical Code with edits for North Carolina. Ventilation rates are "hard coded" into the code and they are based on previous ASHRAE guidelines. If I followed current ASHRAE standards, my ventilation air would not meet state codes.

Take the "V" out of HVAC and you are left with a HAC(k) job.
