2-D Placement of views

2-D Placement of views

2-D Placement of views

(OP)
I am having a hard time placing views of a model that is
not connected to an axis (step file). I would need to know
how to pick faces and vectors?
thanks

RE: 2-D Placement of views

in the part, Body-Move/Copy. Constraints Tab. Use mates to orient your part.

RE: 2-D Placement of views

You can also re-define the standard views within your part.  If there is a particular orientation that you would like to use as your front view, orient the part that way and hit the space bar to bring up the view orientation panel.  From there you can update the standard views (middle icon at the top).

RE: 2-D Placement of views

I may be missing something here, but if you have a solid model, then you should be able to create a drawing from it, and any views created will automatically be aligned to the parent view.

Also, if you need an axis you should be able to create one in the model even if it is STEP format. Just select the circular surface and use the Reference Geometry tools.

Please explain more of what you are trying to do.

cheers
