Tube SIde Materials for Seawater Heat Exchanger

Tube SIde Materials for Seawater Heat Exchanger

(OP)
HI,

Tube Material is Titanium Gr. 2.
Shell Side Material is Carbon Steel.
Temperature & pressure are about 170?, 4.5 bar.

I want to use Carbon Steel with TFE lining for Tube SIde Materials for Seawater Heat Exchanger. exactly Channel, Channel Cover & Tube Sheet at tube side.

However, I'm worry about temperature.
I think that temparture is somewhat high for appling TFE.
I'm not sure...^^

If TFE was not satisfied, I think that CS with Ti cladding is suitable.

Please, tell me what you think about this matter. or I want to hear your view on this matter.

Regards,

Because of galvanic corrosion between titanium and carbon steel, if temperature impeaches de use of TFE, in that case, I think you should go for CS with Ti cladding.

Good luck

I would suggest a clad or solid Ti tube sheet.
For the channel Ti clad is an option.  You could also use a high alloy stainless such as 2507.
Coating will be problematic unless you can also provide galvanic protection.  Otherwise any slight coating defect will cause rapid attack of the CS.
There are very good two layer epoxy coating systems that are commonly used in seawater.  Contact some coating service companies.
