Manilla GForce problem

Manilla GForce problem

(OP)
Hi. I have a small question that I can't seem to get any help with. I just installed a new 64MB PNY GForce 2 400MX PCI video card into my wifes Linux box. The OS is Linux Mandrake 8.1. When I first installed the starndard, and detected, 4.1 driver with the OpenGL acceleration XWindows wouldn't boot, so I went through the drivers until I found the 3.4 driver with the beta OpenGL acceleration drivers and it works. I've tried both the 3.4 standard and 3.4 accelerated drivers for this card and both work well, but none of the final drivers will allow me to boot X. I tried altering the monitor types to see if there was a differance, but nothing. My question to you is: Is there anyone who has heard of problems with these generic cards, and if so, is it a common occurance? If there is a work around I would also be interested.
