CLEANING OUT TEMP FOLDER

CLEANING OUT TEMP FOLDER

CLEANING OUT TEMP FOLDER

(OP)
I periodically delete the files that are in the temp folder which does seem to help, performance wise.  However, everytime I do this deleting, one file always seems to remain, Windows telling me the file can't be deleted.  Does anyone else have the same issue or know what this file is and why it can't be deleted. It's a DLL file titled  IadHide5.   Just curious......

Thanks.

thanks for the link, CTOPHER.  The file does seem like something that shouldn't be on the computer.  Need to research it a little more.  But thanks again for the link.

Another excellent utility is CCleaner from www.ccleaner.com

It can be set to run on boot-up to keep your machine clean from all the build up of crap.

cheers

While your cleaning, another location to clean is your SW Temp folder.  Default location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\TempSWBackupDirectory

If I want to delete something that is no longer in use, but Windoze won't let me, Unlocker kicks in and asks me if I need it unlocked. Ever want to delete a part or folder that you are not using, and a box comes up stating the file you are trying to delete is in use?

Also check out Crapcleaner for cleaning crap off your computer:

RE: CLEANING OUT TEMP FOLDER

That location is only created if you have not setup a direct backup directory. I have one setup called SW Backup. With that I don't have that directory... so be sure you understand that you might not see that directory.

C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\TempSWBackupDirectory

RE: CLEANING OUT TEMP FOLDER

I am not saying anyone should do this, but I and everyone here has been cleaning the Temp folder for a long time with no ill effects. We put it in our “C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER Name here\Start Menu\Programs\Startup” folder

CODE

C:
cd %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings
rd /s/q Temp
md Temp

I do the following also, but no one else does.

CODE

C:
cd %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings
rd /s/q "Temporary Internet Files"
md "Temporary Internet Files"
