Is There A Difference Between Catia Versions

Is There A Difference Between Catia Versions

(OP)
I’m new to the Catia software.

Is Catia V5R14 & Catia V5R17 compatible with each other?

Are they backward & forward compatible or are they completely different softwares all together?

Any response will be greatly appreciated!

RE: Is There A Difference Between Catia Versions

With catia R17 you should be able to open R14 file without problem.

With R14 you cannot open R17 files.

With R17 you can create R14 files : drawings and parts not products -unless i am wrong-

RE: Is There A Difference Between Catia Versions

Eric - you are wrong.  It's CATParts not CATDrawings and CATProducts. :)

For most cases, STEP and DXF do the same thing. (as STEP retains assembly structure, if set properly)
