MIRRORING FEATURE QUESTION

MIRRORING FEATURE QUESTION

MIRRORING FEATURE QUESTION

(OP)
I'm mirroring a feature across a plane, where the "expected" result would leave a space between the seed feature and the mirrored feature.  Why is it that "sometimes" the mirrorred result fills in the space creating a solid block, rather than resulting in 2 (separate) blocks.  I've resolved this by unchecking merge result when creating the seed feature, then mirrorring and then combining the bodies after the mirror feature.... but still curious as to why it doesn't work the other way...

RE: MIRRORING FEATURE QUESTION

Did you do anything like Extrude Up To Surface in your feature?  Sometimes the mirrored feature will refer to the same literal surface and do funny things.

RE: MIRRORING FEATURE QUESTION

(OP)
Hi Jeff,

Actually, yes, the seed feature was created using the "up to surface" option.  I'll keep an eye out if (when) that happens again...and I'll know what the problem may be.

Thanks for the quick follow up.

John
