3D bevel gear prototype

3D bevel gear prototype

3D bevel gear prototype

(OP)
I want to model (proe wildfire2) a small bevel gear and pinion accurately enough to make sla prototypes.
I have a summary sheet from Gleason for gear and pinion data.
If I define the involute, mirror it across the circ thickness can it be sweep along the root angle as a cut?
Also where along the face width is the circ thickness defined?

RE: 3D bevel gear prototype

The tooth of the bevel will taper towards the centre. The inspection/gear data is taken on the PCD. Your best bet is to ask this in the 3D drawing forum. If the cut could have something like a draft to it then that might work.

RE: 3D bevel gear prototype

From what I understand about bevels; the tooth profile of straight bevel gears is not involute, rather it's of the Octoid form. This is because the line of action is not straight as is the case for involute tooth forms. The line of action on bevel gears resembles something more like a figure 8.
The pitch and pressure angle changes along the length of bevel gear teeth so I don't think you can "sweep along the root angle as a cut".
The Gleason system defines the circular thickness at the major diameter or crown. Klingenberg define the data half way along the tooth length.

RE: 3D bevel gear prototype

Can you post the data?
I can create the solid models for you using gear software in either SAT or STEP or SW part or INV part.

Thanks for the offer gearcutter..I'm aware of software that can create the gear data and then be imported into pro.

But was looking to create it in pro so it can be modified into other gear geometry.

Guess I'll post this on the PTC form

Thank all for the replies did learn somethings
