Half an assembly missing

Half an assembly missing

Half an assembly missing

(OP)
I created an assembly with 168 parts in SW 2007 a while back.  Now, about half of the steel studs that I used to create it are MIA.  They show up in the design tree, but are invisible in the window.  All the mates show up as being valid, and I can select them in the tree to edit them, and when I do that, all the rest show up in wireframe.  Any suggestions?  Changing the component display does nothing.

RE: Half an assembly missing

Yikes--could be a graphics card problem.  What are you using?

So you can open each of the missing parts by right-clicking in the tree?  (If so, the parts are there, but not being displayed.)  If your display state for those parts is set to wireframe, it will tax your graphics card more than in shaded view.  If you have a card that's tested as weak or insufficient (not recommended) by the SolidWorks web site, I'm betting this could be your problem.

Ehh...it's much simpler.  I feel dumb now.  Somehow an extruded cut in the assembly got messed up via some configuration, wiping out those parts.  Score another for user error.  All fixed.
