How to hold razor blade

How to hold razor blade

How to hold razor blade

(OP)
Hello,

What would be a good way to hold/clamp a thin razor blade in place, preferably without thru holes. I am trying to design a blade holder for a concept machine, the blade dimensions are 20mm cutting edge length, 13mm wide, and .88mm thick.

Thanks in anticipation,
Alex

RE: How to hold razor blade

I'd start with a big 20mm thick machinists' clamp, and remove what I didn't need.

Bolted pinch strip?

RE: How to hold razor blade

Depends on the forces that will be acting on the blade. I have severla hand actuated cutters here that use rare earth magnets to hold the blade into a nest. This allows a tool-less blade change. Very popular in our plant.
