Weld Joint Factor For Welded Fitting

Weld Joint Factor For Welded Fitting

Weld Joint Factor For Welded Fitting

(OP)
Dear members,

When wrought fittings conforming to ASTM A234 or A403
for their materials and to ASME B16.9 for their designs
are made by longituditnal welding,
the standards do not require any specific welding method, i.e. ERW or EFW or SAW.

However ASME B31.3 Table 302.3.4 and Appendix A-1B describe the weld joint quality factor Ej as per welding methods and non-destructive examination methods.
According to ASME B31.3, we can not increase Ej by additional NDE if ERW (Ej=0.85) is applied to the welding.

My question is,
if client requires that all welded fittings shall have
weld joint quality factor 1,
must purchaser indicate EFW with 100% RT in purchase order?
