ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

(OP)
Hi,
Please explain the above standard briefly.  We have to design per this standard on a project.
thanks,

RE: ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

It establishes a range of temperature and humidity that most people find to be comfortable.

RE: ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

lol, next time I am in some office and this heavy woamn with hormones tells me she is not comfortable, I will tell her the PMV is 0,5 and she should do something about her clo level. smile

Take the "V" out of HVAC and you are left with a HAC(k) job.

RE: ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

I think 90.1 has something about letting menopausal women near the thermostat.

RE: ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

And don't forget the mean radiant temperature comfort and the Resultant/Operative temperature guidelines in there too.

RE: ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

Got a thermostat to maintain acceptable room temperature? got a cooling coil to dehumidify the air in the summer? got a heating coil to maintain minimum 68F indoor temperature in winter? got an industrial application? throw in an IAQ sensor, got a himidistat somehwere? so much teh better.

That's it you are ASHRAE 55 compliant, and I guarantee you that no one will dare tell you that you are not.

Playing dumb when using a dumb guideline and evrybody seems happy with this approach.

RE: ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

worse design scenario is one thermostat and three women

Take the "V" out of HVAC and you are left with a HAC(k) job.

RE: ASHRAE STD- 55 Thermal Environment

Give each woman a dummy thermostat!
