Vista and CATIA - opinions

Vista and CATIA - opinions

RE: Vista and CATIA - opinions

I have run R16 on it just to see what happened. But I turned off nearly all the bells and twiddles just because they were bloody annoying rather than actually causing a problem. However, DS do not officially support vista yet as far as I know.

RE: Vista and CATIA - opinions

Vista?  You've got to be kidding!    We still have workstations running W2K.  We barely have a standard XP Image.   I suspect that we won't se Vista in a corporate setting for at least 2 years.  And then it will only be because some new graphics card or software package won't run on anything less.   Our PC IT group is loath to upgrade OS's on existing hardware, and only rolls new OS's with new hardware.  And then only when they are forced to.

RE: Vista and CATIA - opinions

And that's not a bad thing, catiajim.

My experience with moving to 64 bit on x64 has been nothing but unpleasant.

Ok, so it runs Catia well.  But you cannot find drivers for ANYTHING else!  (and LUM still won't run concurrent offline on x64)

RE: Vista and CATIA - opinions

I didn't say it was, although I hate trying to support CATIA on multiple platforms.  Currently we have:  AIX 5.3ML3, W2K, XP, and XP-64.  We are trying to get all of our W2K boxes upgraded to XP for R17 (a requirement or R17), but it's like pulling teeth.

I didn't know about LUM.  That s#cks.  What kind of drivers?  Other than Graphics?

Graphics drivers are easy.  Nvidia has really outstanding drivers for anything that runs Catia. (on Windows)

The real problems are things like printers and wireless devices.

I printed my comment at that URL.  Nothing more to say on the subject for me.
