Bridge data

Bridge data

Bridge data

(OP)
Hi - I'm wondering if there is any bridge design database whose data contains bridge specs, conceptual design attributes, and performance measures (such as those obtained from inspection). I know one database in UCI machine learning dataset but the data contains only 12 fields which is impractical.

I am trying to design an automated knowledge acquisition and discovery tool for bridge design that maps the given set of specs to, at least, a conceptual design with a consideration of its performance.

Please help me. Thank you.

RE: Bridge data

Most all highway bridges are designed to AASHTO Specifications.  What attributes would inspection provide?  Length of spans, number of spans, width of bridge, use of bridge, traffic counts, overload vehicle design, presumed life span, dead load to live load ratios, depth of main span components, foundation types and approach structures?  A bridge inventory is kept with this type of data in most DOTs.  The railroads have good data bases with all their structures but it is closely guarded and proprietary.

RE: Bridge data

Bridge data and bridge inspection data in the United States is not general released to the public these days due to the whole increased security measures post 9/11.  If you are doing some legitimate research you should be able to contact the local state department of transportation.  They will have someone that keeps track of their bridge inventory that can help you.  I also agree with civilperson’s comment on railroad bridges.

Thank you for valuable inputs. I'll try to talk with some state agency to see how willingly they would like to provide the data.
