Submersible pumps and Vertical lineshaft turbine pumps
Submersible pumps and Vertical lineshaft turbine pumps
(OP)
Dear friends ,
In general I know that vertical pumps have better efficiency than submersible pumps, also the motor location above ground facilitate the maintenance istead of pulling out in the case of submersible pumps. But the vertical pump requires specific allignment of the borehole "well" to be installed ,also it takes much more time to install the column pipe with the shaft comparing to the submersible pumps.
I am collecting information about the differences between both type of pumps, can you please help me with any technical information for the camparing between both type of pumps, I appreciate all submitted comments that will help me in my comprehensive report regarding both type of pumps, showing the advantages and disadvantages from your experience and knowledge.

You are really trying to compare 2 completely different pump styles - both of which have their particular uses depending on a multitude of variables. In some cases what can be a major disadvantage in one instance can become a major advantage in other.

In general, you have to compromise and choose what features are important - simplicity vs efficiency, reliability vs serviceability... and sometimes you find a solution that is both simple and efficient, but then its a PITA to maintain. Have a good read.

You run a sub when the cost of the hole is the driving factor. Small diameter pumps and motors cannot be highly efficent, but when you need high head in small hole then it is the answer.
Vertical shaft units excell at delivering high flows at moderate heads with good efficency. You get to use nice large motors running at cool temperatures. The entire assembly must be carefully alligned and maintained.
