necking in tensile tesing
necking in tensile tesing
(OP)
Dear all,
i am trying to simulate a tensile test. since in the real senario the material is anisotropic and in ansys i m modelling as isotropic (since i dont know all the matrix for anisotrory for my material). I am not able to get necking becoz of the isotropic property. Is there any other way to get the necking?

RE: necking in tensile tesing
The necking part has a smaller E.
The second method is to make a small notch on the specimen.
Then, the deformation of the notch area will be larger than that of other part.
Notice: because the material is not linear elastic, the increment and the time during this simulation is impportant. Otherwise, there will be convergence problems, or the necking phenomenen will not be significant. If the increment is set small enough, you can can the same necking phenomenon with that of the experiment.
good luck!
