I-DEAS does not support spaces in filenames.

I-DEAS does not support spaces in filenames.

Hi.
At work we recently re-installed I-DEAS 12 NX on a new computer after the old one died.

It seems to be installed correctly and working fine, except...

Any time you try and import a pkg file or open a model file, it gives this error message:

"I-DEAS does not support spaces in filenames."

There are no spaces in the filenames.  This has happened before, but I can't remember what we did to correct it.

Am I missing something obvious?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: I-DEAS does not support spaces in filenames.

Hi,
I-DEAS comes from UNIX and is sensitive to empty spaces. Check if your file name has an extra space on the end.

Best regards

RE: I-DEAS does not support spaces in filenames.

It's not just the package filename that must be free of spaces but also the Directory path to where the Package file is sitting on you HD. ie. if it's in "My Documents" it won't work.

That did it!
Thanks!

RE: I-DEAS does not support spaces in filenames.

Hello

Maybe your problem is that the path of the file you're importing is too long.

Try moving the folder that contain your file to a shorter path. I mean, if your file has the followint path: "C:\ Works\Desing\Models\Last_models" try to move to "C:\Works\Las_models"

I hope I have helped you
