Replacement of Leaking Gate Valves?

Replacement of Leaking Gate Valves?

Replacement of Leaking Gate Valves?

(OP)
A recent MA DEP inspection cited a fuel oil distributor
(gasoline, diesel and #2 fuel oil) with oily valves and threaded piping connections at his several isolated tank farms.  Most of the valves that I noted, showing signs of weepage, are of the gate and globe types.  With time these stains migrate along the valve and piping surfaces making the situation to the inexperience DEP inspector worse than it appears.  Naturally we dont want to challenge too strongly her findings.  So, what is the current state of valve selection for these installations?

RE: Replacement of Leaking Gate Valves?

May be more of a maintenance issue in replacing any loose packing than a valve selection criteria question.  How long has it been since any maintenance was conducted at those "isolated" sites?
