curve defined by an equation
curve defined by an equation
(OP)
Hi!
I'm trying to draw a parabolic curve and I'd like to know if there's any way to do it by introducing a table of values(x and y) or by introducing a formula as y=x^2
Thank's very much for your help

RE: curve defined by an equation
That's a very simple formula to setup.
Do you know how to setup parameters?

RE: curve defined by an equation
Insert => Wireframe => Conic.
A simple example is a parabola that starts at (1,1,0), ends at (-1,1,0), has a vertex at (0,0,0) and a directrix at (0,-1,0) - this is the tangents intersection point. The Parameter for a parabola is 0.5, parameter values [0>P<0.5] are elliptical, those [0.5>P<1] are hyperbolic.
The only difference between any parabolas is the Scale, so whatever values you have for the parabola dimensions, the point values can found from y = x2 ; the tangent intersection point is always minus the 'y' value of the start and end points.

Then if you have question on this, tell us more about your problem, but everything is detailed in the DS doc...
