PDMWorkgroup vs. Enterprise

PDMWorkgroup vs. Enterprise

PDMWorkgroup vs. Enterprise

(OP)
We currently use Workgroup but I would like our group to moved to Enterprise for the ECN/ECO process and the audit trail (needed to stay ISO & FDA compliant).  Enterprise seems to accomplish our needs pretty much out-of-the-box, and I feel I have to massage and finesse Workgroups to almost meet what we need.

We have 11 users in our group, and I'm trying to come up with a cost justification for moving to Enterprise.  Has anyone done this that could give me some advise?  Anything would be helpful.

Thanks

RE: PDMWorkgroup vs. Enterprise

Hi, This probably won't help you much but we're currently moving from WorkGroup to Enterprise. The justification was very difficult from a Drawing Office point of view as WorkGroup did a lot of what we need (albeit clunkily) and has an API to customise certain functions. Where we could justify it was integration into other systems and reuse of data. As Enterprise has a SQL database behind it, more and better information can be stored and reused. We justified it on integration time (wages saved) alone. The better API, workflow and the use of drop down lists and mandatory fields on data cards, should yield an improvement in the quality of data and thus impact on it's usefulness. I would suggest that you could look for other uses within your business to help your justification.
