I have a situation that I'm not sure how to approach.  I have a series of braided metal hoses through which a hot oil (~450F) flows.  These hoses are uninsulated and therefore lose heat to the ambient surroundings.  A pneumatic system being installed may result in a large air flow (ambient temperature) across these hoses.  Knowing the flows and temperatures of each fluid, how should I go about predicting the effect of moving air across these hoses?  Ultimately I'd like to know how much MORE heat I will lose to the moving air versus the still air.

So, how do you suggest I approach this problem?  Seems like a cross-flow heat exchanger, but a bit more complicated.

download the 3eplus software and execute the program with your situation (bare pipe, size ?, with x mph wind).  a reasonable heat loss value will be provided.
