Polycarbonate roofing

Polycarbonate roofing

Polycarbonate roofing

I have a project where the designer wants to use polycarbonate roofing.  I have not used this as structural sheathing before.

Anyone used this for gravity and lateral load transfer, if so is there a good icc-es report or something similar so I know what the properties are?

I am looking at www.icc-es.org now, but it seems like unless you know exactly what you are looking for finding the relavant data takes a while...

Appreciate any insights

RE: Polycarbonate roofing

Check with the supplier... there are several types of polycarbonate sheathing used for roofs.  One common one here is a corregated material with 'square holes' through the material.  It's fairly common and has been used for temporary shelters, bus shelters in Toronto, etc.  The material was used in flat sheets for a roof over Rainbow Stage in Winnipeg and worked quite well... Have to make sure it's treated for UV and fire(?)

Do you happen to know a name?

RE: Polycarbonate roofing

Rooflite comes to mind... there's also Veralite which is a multi-wall product and they may manufacture corrugated material also.  Likely do a web search for polycarbonate roofing corrugated and see what pops up... likely a million hits.

Yeah, I ran a search and all sorts of products from China and India showed up...was hoping for someone localish who has gone through the proper testing channels.

Thanks

RE: Polycarbonate roofing

Rooflite and Versalite both conform to some ASTM specs... not sure which, it's a place to start... and I think they're both American; there are products available in the UK a well as Australia...
