Voltage trasnformer connection to busbar

Voltage trasnformer connection to busbar

Hello. On site i have one generator terminal enclosure with Voltage transformers on the line side of the generator. The primary of these VT's are connected to the busbars by special cables (the cables have red insulation outer sheath and aluminuim wires inside). Apart from that i dont have any more specs. The manufacturer of the enclosure is too far from our site. So i like to ask your opinion if these cables are special ones and if you can provide any details for where to purchase them. The ration of VT are 15750/120 V, 200VA, Class 0.2

RE: Voltage trasnformer connection to busbar

I don’t think that this cable is special, it only converts the transformation voltage ratio to the bus bar, however can you confirm the voltage ratio of the V.T?
regards

The cables could be jumper cables made with tinned copper wires, not aluminum. There is a cable designed for use by linemen installing temporary jumpers on an energized pole line.  I have seen this type cable used in switchgear and generator VT enclosures because of its flexibility and its high voltage rating.

RNH the ratio of VT's are 15750V/120V, 200VA Class 0.2.
I suppose that they have similar properties like silicon cables...

You can get to half the known engineering world through Eng-Tips and you can't get to the manufacturer?  Amazing!

BJC, i am in Greece with a GE generator terminal enclosure manufactured in Canada by Koontz-Wagner with VT and CT of Narayan Powertech which is in India. So much for the globalization. I better had everything from SIEMENS, Europe companies.

RE: Voltage trasnformer connection to busbar

if those cable are what i think there are 5 to 15 kv jumper cable

normally there are not supposed to touch any metal part and neither themself. (other wise on the long run you will get tracking....and maybe surprise lol)

normally they use fiber support to pass them thru

the red color is to designate them ase temporary jumper...but everybody use the as permanent
