Anyone using the Free 2D to draw diagrams?

Anyone using the Free 2D to draw diagrams?

Anyone using the Free 2D to draw diagrams?

(OP)
Hi!

I'm already using solid edge extensively for our equipment, and now I'm in the process of evaluating the use of the free 2D to build the electrical diagrams. The thing is that we have two licenses for the design and the drafting of those equipment in the engineering department and the electrical programming is done in the automation department and they don't have any license of SE. That's were the free 2D comes in and I think that it would be a nice replacement to AutoCad and Visio.

My first question is are there any user who are using the free 2D for diagrams and what are your likes and dislikes so far?

I went through the tutorials and I think that SE will work fine excempt that I don't find an option to create a part list of all the symbols inserted into the drawing. Is it possible? if not it's really disappointing because it would justify all the trouble of drawing it all.

thanks

Patrick

Hi,

there is no parts list neither for Blocks nor for Symbols, this
is also true for the full version of SE

That's what I was thinking!

Do you know if it's on their to do list? I think it would make for a very good enhancement!

Thanks

Patrick

If it was full SE I guess you could create a bunch of non graphic parts and have a non graphic assembly.

Or, would virtual assemblies be of any use, again requiring full SE though?

not that I know  but there may be an open ER in the meantime

I've been trying to recall what was presented at PLM world and I thought there was something about asigning properties to blocks but can't for the life of me remember any more.

Sorry.

I know you can put properties to the blocks, And it's very useful but you still have to make the part list by yourself when it would be nice to have SE calculate the total number of blocks that you have in the drawing and put it in a part list.

thanks guys

Patrick
