Impact Testings

The ASME codes talk about impact testing being required for temperature below -20°F unless you de-rate the material. However, it does not say whether or not the welds are subject to impact testing.

RE: Impact Testings

packie81, apparently you are concerned with CS materials, if so, see UCS-67.

But does UCS-67 also apply to welds made under B31.5?

RE: Impact Testings

I was able to access a copy of B31.5, and there is specific reference to ASME Section VIII, Div 1, Part UG, UG-84 for impact testing. There is one caveat, you need to review 523.2.2. Instead of following UG-84 completely, there is a substitution for UG-84 (b)(2).
