Adding New Material to Material Editor

Adding New Material to Material Editor

Adding New Material to Material Editor

(OP)
I want to change a part material to Black Acetal but this type of plastic isn't in the list of plastics on Material Editor on SolidWorks. I'm using 2007 SP2.2

Anyone know how to add new materials or if it is at possible?

God bless.

Actually, It is listed under POM Acetal. But out of curiosit can I add new materials?

RE: Adding New Material to Material Editor

[sarcasm]Below the list of materials in the Materials Editor is a button named Create/Edit Material .... maybe that will do something if you click it ... go on, I dare you.[/sarcasm]

cheers

RE: Adding New Material to Material Editor

At my site, you are welcome to download a material file that I created. All info is from the Engineering Material Handbook. I have checked mass/weight against real parts and have been 98-100% accurate.
Good luck.

RE: Adding New Material to Material Editor

Chris, the link on your site seems to be dead

You can also get material databases from matweb (not free, but pays back in saved time if you need new materials often). They export it, you point solidworks to where you stored it (Tools->Options->File Locations->Material databases->Add)

RE: Adding New Material to Material Editor

Strange.
It works for me on two different pc's.
I'll keep working on it if you want to keep trying. :)
Thanks.
