Fracture Toughness

Fracture Toughness

(OP)
Does anyone know if there is a correlation between Plain Strain Fracture Toughness (K1c) and Impact Toughness (results of a Charpy impact, or Izod test)?

Crux of this question is that I'd like to be able to predict as far as possible the K1c for a material that I only have Izod test results for.

RE: Fracture Toughness

IF you had data for the same alloy in various conditions you could correlate new impact data.
In general, No, you can't do this.
