SolidWorks 2007 Explorer search does not work with 64 bit

SolidWorks 2007 Explorer search does not work with 64 bit

(OP)
Hello,

Here is something interesting that we found out today:

SolidWorks 2007 Explorer search does not work with 64 bit.

This is because the SolidWorks 2007 Explorer search uses Windows Desktop Search. And Windows Desktop Search is not supported in 64 bit.

Has anyone run into this before? It seems like a rather big limitation to me, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a work around to this?

Best regards,

Joseph

RE: SolidWorks 2007 Explorer search does not work with 64 bit

Yes,
Our I.T. group put Windows Desktop Search on our P.C. at install. I did not know this and when I did a search the Windows Desktop Search came up. Because my disk was not indexed, I had to switch to the regular search. So I uninstalled Windows Desktop Search. Now my search does not work in SolidWorks 2007 Explorer, which it did before uninstalled Windows Desktop Search.
