(OP)
I am a new user to Solid Works 2007. At my previous company I used Pro/Engineer. Can anyone recommend any good training manuals for Solid Works 2007? Is Solid Works For Dummies any good or is it just what the title suggests?

Thanks,
Ken Johnson

RE: New Solid Works User

I would try the solidworks tutorials first and go thru those and see if you pick up enough to become functional. I usually get the planchard & planchard engineering design for solidworks books off ebay or amazon.com when we upgrade to the next solidworks release and use it for reference.

Personally, coming from Autocad (in 2002) the solidworks dummies book annoyed me -but flip thru it at borders or barnes and noble or whatever your big book store chain of choice may be and see if it looks useful.

Ken,

If you have a support contract you can download SWx 2007 training documentation from your SWx port-hole.  Depending on your level of expertise with Pro/E you should transition with ease.  Some things you will miss depending on what version of Pro/E will be Datum Planes On-the-Fly (2001) and variable section sweeps.  Welcome aboard

Yeah, I miss variable section sweeps.  Of course, I can't remember the last time I did one in Pro/E, but you know, details...

There's also the i.get.it online training...although it is expensive.
