New 3D Scanning for SW 2007

New 3D Scanning for SW 2007

RE: New 3D Scanning for SW 2007

Thanks for the links.
I think I would like this better than the hand-held scanning devices.

The thing about the hand held ones is that you have a bigger available volume with most of them, and the ability to get into complex internal geometry.

RE: New 3D Scanning for SW 2007

Rolands been making scanners for years and they have always had pretty low prices. This is just marketing between SW and Roland to try and sell seats of premium and scanto3d paired with a Roland scanner. I think its funny that roland says you can export a cad model from their LPX EZ Studio in point cloud, STL, PIX and 3DM data formats (when they aren't CAD models in this format, thier points and polys) and that once imported, SW has a magic bullet to surface these points or polys (which they would like to believe is their auto surface magic button with a little slider under it). But, none the less, It does look like a nice desktop scanner, thanks for the info.

Yeah, I agree.  You can see it showing through with the SW side requiring Office Premium instead of having the system integrate naturally from Roland.  However, it looked worth posting--particularly after all the publicity received from the other little scanner when SW 2007 was released.
