bending the galvanized steel pipe
bending the galvanized steel pipe
(OP)
In a water network project for some of the villages , 2" galvanized steel pipe is used, the available standard elbows are 45 deg and 90 deg , in some locations and due to the small roads width and the continuos change of direction of the pipeline the contractor bend the pipes to match the excavation direction. Is it allowed to bend the galvanized steel pipe during the installation , for me I think it will decrease the strength of pipe and reduce the diameter , but I need to no if its ok to bend or should be rejected ?

RE: bending the galvanized steel pipe
Another question is if any damage might have been done to the galvanized coating during the bending process. I would think that a coating repair would be necessary.

RE: bending the galvanized steel pipe
regarding the galvanized coating it,s not clear what happened as the pipe is used for buried application and insulated from outside by high density polyethylene coating , maybe the internal coating is damaged but I think it,s not easy to observe and repair , so I prefer to reject everything.
RE: bending the galvanized steel pipe
On a contratual note did you specify "do not bend the pipe" or something to that effect?
