I have been asked to develop IGT heat shield castings in alloy H120. I have no experience with this material. I shall be thankful,if I am given a few tips regarding its castability,properties and any common reasons for rejections. Thanks all for your help.

RE: H 120 casting

arunmrao;

Can you provide more information on this alloy? When you mentioned heat shield castings, my first thought was the alloy HR-120 by Haynes.

metengr,
After I had exhausted all resources available I very hesitatingly posted this question. (Scared to be labelled Moron of the day).

I have also asked the buyer/enduser to provide details. I hope he does it soon. This RFQ was generated from US and I hope he does not consider me a Moron once again!!(for having revealed my ignorance)

metengr et al,
I am reproducing the extract of a communication that I just received. Can you please offer your comments now on this alloy casting

 It is Ni-33Fe-25Cr, UNS No. N08120 Max Temp 900-degree C, Data Max 930-degree C  This alloy is referenced in high temperature Ni Base Alloys.  I have seen references to the “H120” in UK literature, but it was listed as a wrought alloy for flooring, decking, etc.

Thanks!!. Any help regarding this alloy application for heat shield castings. Do we need to vacuum braze the segments before machining the assembly. Else how do we assemble the segments for machining?

I have made heat treatment castings parts in this alloy. But I was not aware of this designation.Thanks once again.
