Sketch Picture and Drawing Views

Sketch Picture and Drawing Views

Sketch Picture and Drawing Views

(OP)
I searched the forums, and found a discussion on viewing "sketch pictures" in drawing views. I'm using SW 2007 SP2.1.

I inserted a sketch and then a sketch picture onto a 3D model of a label. When I place this model into a drawing view the "sketch pictures" do not show up. Vector sketches show up fine. yes - Show sketches is turned on, and I made sure "Show" was activated for the sketch picture.

I would have thought this would have been resolved by 2007.

Any thoughts?

RE: Sketch Picture and Drawing Views

Is the drawing view in shaded mode?

cheers

Well, I didn't think of this option.

I went back and tried all of the view options (wireframe, hidden, solid, shaded). Nothing resolves the problem.

The one thread on this site about this issue (as far back as 2005) stated that the user should paste the pics inside the drawing view on top of the placed label view. To be politically incorrect - this is just artarded. I guess I'll check with my reseller to see if they know of a resolution to this simple problem.

Talked to my VAR.

You can not add Sketch Pictures to a solid, and have them come up in a drawing view. They told me to send an enhancement request to SW. If anyone else would like this functionality please do the same.

A thought came to me about using PhotoWorks. I remember it has something called Decals. I turned it on, and lo and behold you can drag a PW decal directly onto a face of a solid. When you go to the drawing view you need to view it shaded, and PW needs to be on all the time. Turn off PW, and the decal disappears from the drawing. Teo issues: The decals need to be created and saved in PW format (no jpegs), and PW needs to be on all the time. I never turn on PW. So I do not like this approach.
