Pressure Vessel and Pressure Equipmt
Pressure Vessel and Pressure Equipmt
(OP)
Hello all,
What is the different between the Pressure Vessel and Pressure Equipment ? I understand that the different is just only the design pressure which the pressure will be greater than 15 PSI as per ASME VIII Div 1 code.
I have the Desender Hydrocyclone package which the design pressure is 30 Bar. Is it classified as pressure vessel?
Thank you in advance for your help.

RE: Pressure Vessel and Pressure Equipmt
There is more to the definition of an unfired pressure vessel other than exposure of an object (vessel) to internal/external pressure at 15 psig or greater. If you have access to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Section VIII, Div 1), the Introduction of this section of the Code summarizes pressure containing objects that are inclusive and exempt from the Code.
Your second option, if you don't have access to an ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code book, is to contact your Regulatory body or local government agency that regulates boilers/pressure vessels. If you are outside of the US, I would check with the local governing body because they may have specific rules and Codes/Standards to follow. Last but not least, if you have an insurer of your existing equipment, you can ask them for guidance.

In that contest, "equipment" includes vessels, pipes, pressure accessories ans safety accesories.

Pressure equipment is any equipment that is under pressure and subject to the rules and regulations of a national code/standard and local government body that regulates pressure equipment, such as the local boilers and safety branch. Hope this helps
