Asphalt Density Testing using ASTM D2922

Asphalt Density Testing using ASTM D2922

(OP)
We recently had some asphalt installed and tested the density by ASTM D2922 (Nuclear Method).  The sampling occurred while it was raining and the asphalt surface was wet.  I was wondering if the surface water had any impact on the density results.  Our results did not meet our spec.

RE: Asphalt Density Testing using ASTM D2922

Not likely.  Why not retest it dry?  Would be a good idea to correlate with cores anyway.

RE: Asphalt Density Testing using ASTM D2922

Was it wet when the asphalt was placed? If so this is why it failed!
