How to mate a faceted body (NX Human)

How to mate a faceted body (NX Human)

How to mate a faceted body (NX Human)

(OP)
I have used NX Human module to create a human. It worked fine and now I have a human model. The problem is the model consists of segmented 'faceted bodies'.

I have searched the forum for faceted body, and according to the threads, I understand that there is no way to convert a faceted body to a solid body. Am I right?

If I cannot convert a faceted body to a solid, how can I mate the faceted body to a solid in assemblies?

Best Regards,

RE: How to mate a faceted body (NX Human)

Try adding Datums to your human model and then mate your model to the assembly with the datums (either datum planes or axis or both)

What version of NX are you using? The last I check with NX Human i didn't think it had associative mating, probably a Enhancement request that will be put in some future version of NX.

Supposedly it is smart in moving corresponding joints to adjust for movement but not associative to positioning. Even that joint movement isn't correct.

Then what's the use of NX Human if I can't position my Human with respect to the environment that the human interacts?

Ok, it is good to have joint movement in the human model, but first I have to position my human to the point where I will evaluate its joint movements.

RE: How to mate a faceted body (NX Human)

You can position the human in the environment, but by moving joints around, not by mating conditions. I haven't used it a lot to know all the tricks but that is the area I stumbled on. Not until they at least offer associative positioning will I look at it again.
