Deleting Face(s) in circular pattern

Deleting Face(s) in circular pattern

Deleting Face(s) in circular pattern

(OP)
I've got a pattern of bosses that are arranged in a circular pattern that I'd like to delete.  I tried extuding a circular cut through the features but the cut doesn't remove all of the elements.  I next tried deleting all the faces that make up one of the pieces of the circular array.  The delete and patch feature worked well.... I thought I'd next create a circular pattern of the delete feature to delete the remaining elements in the array... but it seems the delete feature doesn't work with the circular pattern feature.  Is there another way to create a circular pattern using a delete feature as the "feature to pattern"?

thanks for the help...

John

RE: Deleting Face(s) in circular pattern

I don't think that will work.  However, you could probably rearrange things in your feature tree to pattern the geometry as a whole instead.  Consider making the modifications to your boss before the pattern.

If that doesn't work, create your boss as a separate body (uncheck the Merge Result option), perform the needed modifications, add the circular pattern (pattern the Body of the modified boss), and then join the multiple bodies to create a single body.

thanks for the reply, Jeff.  The reason this is somewhat challenging is because the section of pattern I'm trying to delete was created from a previous indent feature....

duh.... that gives me an idea.  I can go back and revise the core I used to create the indent pattern.... that should work.

Once again Jeff, thanks.
