Dimension Axis: How Does This Work?

Dimension Axis: How Does This Work?

Dimension Axis: How Does This Work?

(OP)
Please can someone explain how I go about setting the Dimension Axis.

I wish to dimension a line in the profile environment using an axes which are not horizontal or vertical. When I select the Dimension Axis tool, it prompts me to "Select a Line" - Should I not be defining an axis i.e two new perpendicular lines that should replace the default vertical and horizontal axes????

Please how does this tool work and how do I finally place the dimension? I just cannot figure this tool out!

Thanks for any help.

RE: Dimension Axis: How Does This Work?

Hi,

usually all dimensions placed will either be parallel or
perpenticular to the horizontal axis of the drawing sheet or
plane when in sketch mode.

When you select a line to be the base for dimensioning
all dimensions will then be placed parallel or perpenticular
to that line. See the example in SE's help.
This function is available with Coordinate Dimension and
Distance Between only

Thanks Donyoung!

I found the example. I did not use the "Use Dimension Axis". It makes sense now!

Best Regards
