Can anyone tell me what 1" w.g. of static pressure is equivalent to in PSF?  What does w.g. stand for?

RE: Unit Conversion

one inch water head (gage) pressure

P(psi)=(Head in feet x sp gr)/2.31

or

P(psi)= (Head in feet x W)/144

RE: Unit Conversion

1" wg is equal to 5.2 PSF.  WG stands for water guage.  It is also referred to as WC, or water column.  Since 1 cubic foot of water weighs 62.4 Lbs, a 12"x12"x1" piece of water weighs 62.4/12 = 5.2 PSF.

Thanks.  I am a structural guy and was not sure if wg stood for inches of water or inches of Hg.
