Sheet Metal

Sheet Metal

Sheet Metal

(OP)
A sheet metal part created with the Flatten Bend/Process Bend method. What exactly does the radius setting in the (Process Bends) control...?

RE: Sheet Metal

That radius value should be the same as the radius value in the Sheet-Metal1 feature, under Bend Parameters.  It is used in conjunction with Bend Allowance value to calculate the proper values for an accurate flat pattern of your sheet metal model.

Usually, the bend radius should be set to the desired radius of the sheet metal bends, and should correlate to the available tooling for sheet metal forming.

RE: Sheet Metal

(OP)
I usually never bother with the settings in the process
bends, just letting the settings propogate thru from what I set in the sheet metal1 params. Changing the settings in process bends doesn't seem to have an effect on the flat pattern. Just curious.

RE: Sheet Metal

Here are a couple of links that have helped me understand sheet metal in SWx.
